my favourite flower for September

It has to be the most beautiful season for flowers. We are blessed to see the sunshine yellow daffidols sprouting through the grass and the bees are thriving on the nectar of berries and lavender bushes are alive with the buzz of them.

Although its hard to say which beautiful flower I would call my favourite for this month I am very fond of the Ranunculus
.

Its hard to state why this flower is so very special in the world of weddings.... its the unfolding of the soft tissue like petals and the loose look they have in a BQ that makes them so charming. They are surprising in the density they have as well which makes them last longer than anticipated. In weddings they look like a cottage flower and match a vintage theme perfectly as they are often in soft pastel tones.

For those interested in the botanical side of these flowers, I believe they are in the same family as the buttercup.

The name Ranunculus is Late Latin for "little frog," from rana "frog" and a diminutive ending. This probably refers to many species being found near water, like frogs

Classy and sophisticated

This weekend I have 16 tables to decorate. Martini glasses filled with jelly balls and oriental Lillie's to announce elegance and class. I have buckets of these flowers throughout my house just slowly opening ready for saturday. I have collected some perfect fresh monsteria leaves and dendro orchids that have come all the way from singapore... Absolutely perfect!

Saturday has arrived and I have been carefully helping these Lillie's open to perfection. One whole bucket of successful stars :) these flowers are always closed when in transit from the growers, it means a long lasting flower than can take weeks to open. A bonus if your a customer wanting them for home however so weddings and Lillie's are often difficult.

Upon researching some techniques among warm conditions and warm water in the buckets. The one tip that worked best was to steam them open :/ indeed it does sound like I'm cooking them but it worked!

Now for the tricky part, transporting a bucket of open flowers for an hour... Ha ha this is a challenge.

Wedding perfect weather here today. All my brides have been blessed with sun. It's rained all week but god has provided sunlight for the newest brides out there. Have a beautiful day ladies.
